Postcard featuring a 1941 poster by Kukryniksy, 1985.

The size is continental 6" x 4", unmailable without a cover, published by the Visual Arts Publishing House, Moscow. Circulation 32,000, very low by Soviet standards. The artwork is an offset print of a 1941 poster by Kuksyniksy, showing attacking Soviet infantry and tanks, with spiritual support from the great Russian and Soviet warriors of old - from Alexander Nevsky in the background, to Alexander Suvorov, to Vasily Chapayev, hero of the Russian Civil War. The verse at the bottom can be translated as "We fight well, we fight with abandon - grandchildren of Suvorov, children of Chapaye

The artists are not identified on the verso, probably because the postcard appears to be part of a set of their posters, but their hand signature is seen in the lower right-hand corner of the image. Kukryniksy was the pseudonym of a group of three artists, Mikhail Kupriyanov, Porfiriy Krylov, and Nikolai Sokolov. Their role in upholding the morale of the Red Army soldiers and the entire Soviet people during the Patriotic War cannot be overestimated.

In excellent condition. The obverse is pristine, the verso shows minimal storage wear.
