The tunic is double-breasted, in light gray wool gabardine with red piping on lapel and cuffs, gold embroidery on lapels. Shoulder boards are gold, piped in red, with three embroidered gold stars on each board signifying the rank of Colonel General. The buttons are early model with brass backing showing the Mosshtamp maker logo and a 1976 date of manufacture.

On the left breast is a set of sewn-in ribbon bars for a number of Soviet and foreign decorations indicating a truly conspicuous active military career starting from WW2 and going at least well into the 70s. The first row includes two Order of Lenin and two Orders of the Red Banner. The second row starts with another Red Banner, followed by the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st cl., Medal for Combat Service, and Medal for the Defense of Caucasus. The third and fourth rows include the Medal for Victory over Germany, jubilee medals and two foreign awards. The latest award in the set with an identifiable date of issue is the Medal for 50th Anniversary of the Soviet Armed Forces (1968). Note the absence of the 1975 Medal for 30th Anniversary of Victory, which indicates that the uniform was made before that date. The 1970- dated buttons and overall style of the uniform also suggest the early 1970s manufacture.

The tunic is in XL size. The chest measures approximately 44", the sleeves (from cuff to shoulder seam) measure 25", and length from top of collar to bottom hem is 31 ".

The trousers are in navy blue wool gabardine with wide red stripes. XL size nicely matches the tunic; about a 36" waist; about a 29.5 " inseam and 40 " total length. Condition is overall is very good to excellent. Both the tunic and pants are completely free of any moth damage, which is quite uncommon for a Soviet uniform of the period. The tunic has a few very small stains near the right pocket or at its flap as well as some tiny "splatter" spots on the right sleeve that apparently came from the same accident. The stains are not visually detractive and most are invisible at a normal viewing distance. The liner is perfectly clean, sound and fresh. The trousers are perfect.

Please note, shirt and tie not included.
