Army enlisted man belt, dated 1982.

In genuine leather with a solid brass buckle showing the star with a hammer and sickle emblem. Fully extended, measures about 46" from end to end; will easily fit up to waist size 44" and can be cut or easily adjusted to fit smaller sizes. Nicely marked on the inside by the Marxist Factory in the city of Leningrad with a June 1982 date of manufacture.

The belt is in very good condition, showing just minor scuffs from storage, no other significant wear. The leather is still soft, pliable, and clean having only light mildew stains that are not too detractive and may wash off

The buckle of this type was initially introduced for the Suvorov military schools early during the war, and later was adopted for use by regular army units. In 1970s-80, the "Deluxe" model of the belt in real leather (albeit low- grade) was issued to EM and NCOs serving in elite "showcase" units or deployed abroad in Warsaw Pact countries such as East Germany. This kind of belt is scarcer than the standard issue Soviet EM / NCO belts in cheap ersatz leather.
