Incredulity was our first emotion when leafing through this issue. To see such rabid anti-West propaganda and satire, most of it not rooting in any factual events would be more expected in a 1922 issue when Krokodil began its public life. But for 1981, when the Soviet Union was so ripe for collapse, when the Soviet regime and ideology was mostly food for innumerable jokes and anecdotes, you can't help but wonder: what year was on the calendar of the editors of Krokodil?
