Medal in Commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of RKKA, 1938.

Medallion is in silver and enamel; measures 35.7 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 32.2 mm in width, weighs 24.5 g not including the suspension and connecting link. Originally, this medal was issued on a small Type 1 rectangular suspension, but almost all of those were discarded and replaced for the five-sided suspensions after the 1943 change in Soviet regulations.

In excellent condition, very uncommon for this early award. The enamel is extremely well-preserved: it shows beautiful luster and has none of the usual chips, flaking, or rubbing; there are only some miniscule contac

In excellent condition, very uncommon for this early award. The enamel is extremely well-preserved: it shows beautiful luster and has none of the usual chips, flaking, or rubbing; there are only some miniscule contact marks that are mostly unnoticeable to the naked eye.

The medallion is free of bumps, nicks, or any other visible flaws. Some of the original gold plating on the Roman numeral XX is still present - also an uncommon case! The raised details on the reverse are extremely well-preserved and crisp including the grass under the soldier's feet. The toning to silver is overall uniform and attractive with just a few darker spots that add character.

The medal comes on an early post-war suspension device, a single-layer model in brass. The ribbon is fairly old but well-preserved, shows only minimal wear.

To summarize, this is an outstanding example of the first Soviet award medal.
