Table Medal in Commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the Start of the Exploration of Virgin and Uncultivated Lands, by the Leningrad Mint, 1979.

In bronze, 59.9 mm wide. Made at the Leningrad Mint; the original artwork was created by the medalist A. Kozlov. There were 20500 medals in circulation (from our experience however, the medal is a bit more scarce than this relatively large number would suggest.)

The artwork in Socialist Realism style of the late Soviet era depicts a combine harvester on a bountiful field with grain elevators, electric power lines and rising sun on the background. The reverse shows the Soviet national emblem in high 3-d profile and a typically verbose Brezhnev's quote "The develop

In excellent condition. The medal is free of noticeable dings or wear to the high points. The bronze has acquired attractive patina.
