60th Anniversary of the Batumskiy Border Guard Unit (Military Unit #2016), commemorative badge, 1982 issue.
Aluminum, paint; 45.8 x 28.7 mm. The inscription reads "KPO Batumi, 60 Years".
In very fine overall condition. The obverse is practically perfect, shows only minor wear to the green paint. The screw post has been replaced or possibly strengthened with epoxy, apparently by the original owner.
Tasked with guarding the Turkish border, this unit was stationed near the city of Batumi in Georgian SSR, and belonged to the Trans-Caucasian Border Guard District. In 1978, it was awarded with an Order of the Red Banner and added the honorific title "Krasnoznamennyi"
