Order of Glory, 3rd cl, Type 2, Variation 1, #65476, circa early- to mid-1944.

Order of Glory, 3rd cl, Type 2, Variation 1, #65476, circa early- to mid-1944.

Silver, enamel; measures 48.2 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 48.1 mm in width; weighs 22.1 g not counting the suspension and connecting link. Note the very low, five-digit serial number. Features early version of the medallion with the Kremlin tower touching the edge of the red scroll, arch under the clock without the horizontal bar in its upper portion, and the "windows" on the left and right of the arch having small vertical lines not reaching the bottom of the windows.

In very fine to excellent condition, far better than most wartime issues of the Order of Glory and especially the very early ones. The red enamel on the scroll and star retains nice luster and shows only a few microscopic flakes and a couple of minor scratches; there are no chips, significant flaking or any other wear to enamel visible to the naked eye. There are a few miniscule dings and scratches to the center medallion and minimal wear to its high points, but the raised details remain very nicely defined. The raised edge is completely free of bumps or knocks. Both the obverse and reverse show very attractive dark patina to silver.

Comes on original WW2 era suspension device, a two-layer model in steel with self-locking pin, with perfectly preserved old ribbon. The connecting link is original and has not been cut. To reiterate, this example is extremely well-preserved for an early issue. It also represents a good research potential (we have not tried to research it.)
