Established in 1961, 20 years after the battle, this is the last of the Soviet WW2 campaign medals. Awarded to the survivors of the battle for Kiev which was catastrophic for the Red Army (General Kriponos, commander of the Southwestern Front which defended the city, was killed in the cauldron along with most of his staff.)
