Badge of a Participant of the Liberation of Latvian SSR from German Occupation in WW2, circa 1980s.
Anodized aluminum, paint, lacquer; the pendant is 52.3 mm in height incl. eyelet x 47.7 mm in width; overall height with suspension is approx. 69 mm. The Russian-language inscription reads "To a Liberator of Latvian SSR, 1944-1945". The center depicts the skyline of Riga. By its overall design and artwork this badge closely resembles the 1990 badge that commemorated the 45th anniversary of the liberation of all three Soviet Baltic republics. A very large and impressive award.
