The buttons are Admiral's type, displaying the Soviet state emblem and crossed anchors. All the large buttons are dated 1980, whereas the small buttons on the cuffs show the 1983 date, indicating that the uniform was made at some point in the mid-1980s. On the liner of the inside pocket, there is a sewn-in manufacturer's label of the Factory #760 of the Voentorg (Soviet Military Retail Agency) in the city of Sevastopol, Ukrainian SSR.

Extra Large / Long size, good for a robust man of 5'10" - 5'11" height. The chest measures approximately 42", the sleeves (from cuff to shoulder seam) are 25" long; the length from top of collar to bottom hem is 29".

On the left breast, there is a set of eight sewn-in ribbon bars. The top row consists of ribbons for the Medal for 20th Anniversary of Victory over Germany, Armed Forces Veteran's Medal, and Medal for 50th Anniversary of the Soviet Armed Forces. The ribbons in the second and third rows are for the Medals for 60th and 70th Anniversaries of the Armed Forces and Irreproachable Service in the Soviet Armed Forces, 1st cl., 2nd and 3rd cl. This combination of ribbons means that the original owner of the uniform joined the military soon after WW2 and probably had become a commissioned officer by the late 50s. In all likelihood, he was still on active duty in the late 1980s. Chronologically the last award represented in the set is the 1988 Medal in Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Soviet Armed Forces.

The trousers are in matching black gabardine fabric, relatively wide-leg in traditional fashion. There is no maker's label, as is usually the case, but the inside waist has a tailor's size mark in black ink "52/4" (XL). The actual measurements are about 34" waist, 29.5" inseam, 39" long.

The entire uniform is in outstanding, excellent condition. The black wool has none of the usual moth damage. The embroidery on the tunic is tight, without snags. The exterior and liner of both the tunic and trousers are clean; there is only a very minor amount of wear to the nap of the wool at the neck, not detractive or easily noticeable.

Please note, offered here are the tunic and trousers only; the shirt and tie shown in our photos are not included but may be available for purchase separately.
