The Imperial Service Medal was established under the statutes of the Imperial Service Order on 8 August 1902 by King Edward VII. The medal is
presented upon retirement to selected civil servants who complete at least 25 years of meritorious service. In 1920, the original star design of
the medal was changed to a round pattern, 32 mm in size and struck in silver.
