In very good to excellent condition. Only the bottom margin shows wrinkles and a bit of fraying, the worst of which on the right side is carefully reinforced with library tape on the verso. The colors are vibrant and crisp, the text perfectly legible.

During WW1, lubok prints - colorful illustrations of an event, often accompanied by descriptive text - provided Russians with visual interpretations of events on the frontlines, and were widely used as a propaganda tool to bolster morale. This print appeared in response to a report in Russian newspapers, summarized in the upper left-hand corner, claiming that the Germans had begun using police-trained dogs against the Russian Cossack cavalry. The Cossacks' savvy came up with a solution to this new tactic, sending female dogs to lure the German dogs into Cossack traps.

The humorous tone, the unusual K9 subject matter, and the comic strip format make this poster quite uncommon, and will add a fresh color and perspective to a WW1 lubok collection.
