"History of the Civil War in USSR", Volume 3, deluxe edition by the Political Literature State Publishing House, 1957.

"History of the Civil War in USSR", Volume 3, deluxe edition by the Political Literature State Publishing House, 1957. Hard cover, 9" x 11" x 1" format, Russian text, many b/w photographs and illustrations, 402 pp.

This is an edited, Khrushchev era version of the original Communist account of the Revolution and the Russian Civil War prepared based on extensive official Soviet bibliography (mainly the works and decrees of Lenin; interestingly some references to Stalin also appear occasionally although most that had appeared in the earlier editions already got edited out). Volume Three covers the period from the Bolshevik-led overthrow of the democratic provisional government in November (the so-called Great October Socialist Revolution) through March 1919.

The front cover has embossed vignette showing Lenin making a speech from the top of an armored car (an imaginary event befitting the overall historical accuracy of the book). Note the conspicuous absence of a Stalin's portraits.

In very good to excellent condition. The cover shows only very mild corner bumps and light wear to the edges, otherwise practically pristine. The cloth binding is tight and sound. The internal pages have mild age toning, occasional light finger prints, no excessive wear or soiling. The title page and couple of other pages have Ex Libris stamp "Personal Library of N. Aleksandrov"; there are also a couple of retail stamps to the inside back cover.
