Cosmonaut Gherman Titov, second man to orbit the earth, flew the Vostok 2 mission launched on August 6, 1961 and achieved 17 earth orbits. Titov still holds the record for being the youngest human to fly in outer space.

4 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 2", silumin alloy bust, circa 1961, with the sculptor's name, Seleznyova-Stcherbakova, inscribed on the reverse. The base probably once had a felt or leather covering.

Very good to excellent condition, the finish has dulled and there is a small dark spot on his forehead over his right eye, not detractive.

An uncommon likeness. Other than Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova, many of the Soviet cosmonauts do not seem to have appeared as commemorative sculptures for display in the home or office.
