Navy officer dress dagger with leather sheath, maker
marked "ZIK", dated 1974.
Navy officer dress dagger with leather sheath, maker
marked "ZIK", dated 1974.
Features Cyrillic maker mark "ZIK" on the blade above the
date and gold warmish on the brass fittings. Very
attractive Bakelite grip of relatively dark shade. The
ricasso shows engraved serial number 24762. This is a very
uncommon and interesting piece from the last series with
the ZIK maker mark. During 1974, the maker mark was
replaced with the Bulat mark which from that point forward
appeared on all Soviet daggers. Any ZIK daggers from the
70s were issued in relatively small quantities and are
quite scarce compared with the 1950's issues, but the ones
from 1974 are particularly rare.
In very good to excellent condition. The leather on the
scabbard is nicely preserved showing just a few very minor
scuffs, no significant wear, and still has beautiful
gloss. Nearly all of the fragile warmish on the fittings
and the grip is present showing only very minor wear on
the handle guard and some nicks on the edge of the lower
fitting - none of which are very noticeable or detractive.
The brilliant blade shows practically no visible wear. One
of its facets of the Bakelite grip is slightly less
"tanned" apparently due to less exposure to light, which
adds character. A very attractive piece overall.
