First Day Cover Commemorating the First Soviet Moon Rover Lunokhod-1, 1971.
The size is 6 ¼" x 4 ½", published by the Ministry of Communications of the USSR, circulation unknown. The obverse features a large special-issue postal stamp showing the image of Lunokihod-1, the first automated rover craft that explored the surface of the Moon from 17 November 1970 to 14 September 1971. The stamp is canceled with the First Day cancel issued by the Moscow Post Office and dated 16 March 1971.
