Postcard Red Square, Lenin greeting his Red Guards, artist identified on verso, 1971.
The size is continental standard 6" x 4", postally unused and unmarked, published by The Soviet Artist Publishing House, circulation 40,000, quite small by Soviet standards. The artist's name, K. Filatov, is printed in the left-hand corner on the verso. The artwork is an offset print of his painting depicting Lenin parading in front of the so-called Red Guard, the Bolshevik sympathizers from the Army, Navy, and proletariat who served as Lenin's tools in bringing him to power. The abundance of red in the painting's palette seems to remind about all the blood the Bolsheviks spilled to get to this moment.
In excellent, showing just a little storage wear to the verso.
