First Day Cover Commemorating the Soviet Mars-2 Station, 1971.
The size is 6 ¼" x 4 ½", published by the Ministry of Communications of the USSR, circulation unknown. The large commemorative postal stamp is canceled with the First Day stamp issued by the Moscow Post Office, dated 5 April 1972. The lettering on the commemorative stamp reads "Automated station Mars-2, pendant on the planet, 27 November 1971." The image of the pendant shows the state emblem of the USSR and is inscribed with "Earth Mars USSR - 1971."
