Kremlin Perfume Flask in silver, 1968.
Measures 53.1 mm tall incl. the stopper, 25.9 mm in width
in its widest section; weighs 13.8 grams. The front
features embossed image of the main tower of the Moscow
Kremlin. There is an "875" silver hallmark on the reverse
at the neck and a matching hallmark on the stopper. Near
the bottom there is a maker mark ХЮ8 ("KhYu-8") of the
Kharkov Jewelry Factory which dates the flaks to exact
year of 1968 /according to the "Catalog of
Hallmarks on Items in Precious Metals, 1917-2000 (USSR
and Russia)". N. Troepolskaya. C. 2006/.
In excellent condition. There are no dents or significant
scratches, only very light wear; the artwork is nicely
defined. The threads of the stopper function smoothly.
There is dark tarnish to the silver which adds character
(it can be easily removed with silver polish, but we
wouldn't recommend doing it!)
A very interesting "status symbol" item, this flask was
apparently made in commemoration of the 60th anniversary
of the Revolution. An almost unobtainable luxury for most
Soviet women, it would demonstrate a special elite status
of its original owner.
