In gilded brass and enamels; measures 46.4 mm in height x 43.9 mm in width. Massive piece of riveted three-piece construction: the gold wreath with hammer and sickle emblem and letters "RSR" at the bottom is superimposed on the sunburst with orange center, and that in turn is superimposed on the back plate with red enameled banners on the sides. The pin attachment is of complex ("full closure" catch) construction.

The decoration is in excellent condition, free of significant wear. The enamel is perfect, has only a few microscopic contact marks invisible to the naked eye. The gilt finish is nicely preserved showing only very mild patina, no blemishes or significant tarnish. The reverse is nearly pristine.

The box has the name and class of the award impressed in gold. The interior is lined in off-white fabric and has fitted nest for the decoration. There is also a nest for the ribbon bar (which is not included). Unlike the earlier issues, the box is of simplified construction, without the snap closure keeping the box shut or special clasp in the nest to secure the decoration in place. The box is in very good condition. It has only very minimal wear to the exterior and almost no soiling to the liner. It is slightly misshapen, so the lid does not align perfectly with the bottom part of the box, but the box will stay closed and is overall presentable and sound.

The order was established in 1952; its RSR version was awarded starting from 1965 until the end of the Ceausescu regime in 1989.
