Jetton in Commemoration of the Patriotic War of 1812, circa 1912 issue.
In brass, 25.5 mm wide. The obverse features beautifully defined bas-relief portrait of Emperor Alexander I mounted on a horse. The inscription near the top is "In Commemoration of the Patriotic War. Emperor Alexander I". The reverse shows the 1812 Fire of Moscow and the all-seeing eye.
In excellent condition. The obverse shows a few minor scuffs and scratches that are nearly unnoticeable and certainly not detractive. There are no edge knocks or significant dings. The brass has acquired beautiful even toning on both sides, while some of the original gilt finish is visible in recessed areas on the obverse.
The jetton was probably issued for celebrations marking the centenary of the War of 1812. A very interesting and uncommon piece showing the destruction of the Russian capital during the Napoleon's invasion.
