Lullaby ("Girl with a Teddy Bear"), porcelain figurine by the Leningrad Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (LFZ), 1960s.

Lullaby ("Girl with a Teddy Bear"), porcelain figurine by the Leningrad Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (LFZ), 1960s.

Measures nearly 5" (12.5 cm) in height, the base is 1.5" (4.5 cm) across. A very feminine and quaint piece. Note that the toy bear is wearing what looks like a Russian folk costume. The model for this statuette was created in 1960 by sculptor Galina Stolbova and artist Kapitolina Kosenkova, part of a two-piece set depicting toddlers with toys. The Lullaby figurine is highly sought after by collectors and quite scarce.

The bottom has blue over the glaze mark "LFZ" of 1960s model, an additional maker's mark in black (which looks like a stylized 4), and an incised mark "A". There is also what appears to be a red quality control stamp в/с (for highest quality) on the edge of the base, but it is almost completely worn out. The figurine is in excellent condition.

/See "Soviet Porcelain" by Nasonova and Nasonov, Vol. 1, Fig. 140. The LFZ trademark is #489 in Vol. l of "Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991" /
