Excellent Tractor Driver badge, mid 1940s.
Brass, enamels; 46.4 mm x 39.5 mm. The first version of the Tractor Driver badge, featuring large center medallion and the top ornament consisting of 5 scrolls with well defined upper border.
In very fine to excellent condition, outstanding for this relatively scarce badge. The enamel on the medallion shows very minor surface wear only, primarily to the white band. There red enamel has minor contact marks and a couple of microscopic flakes but no chips, significant flaking or deep scratches; still retains nice luster. The details are extremely well preserved and a decent amount of the original silver finish on the wreath and the tractor is present. The fragile grey finish on the border of the shield is mostly intact. The finish on the reverse is almost perfect.
The screw post is full length, approx. 11 mm. Includes original screw plate marked "ShMZ NKPS", somewhat loose but functional.
