Photograph of Stalin in a Miniature Chromed Screwback Frame, circa 1930s.

16.9mm. Stalin is wearing a cap and looking to the right. Chrome plated screwback brass frame. Has bronze, unmarked screwplate.

Very fine condition. When first made, the gloss of the photographic paper would have made this lapel button look like it was glazed. Age, however, has caused the paper to craze slightly overall (and to slightly discolor on the left hand side). While it would not obvious to the naked eye when the pin was being worn, it is noticeable that Stalin's eyes are completely missing from the tiny photo. This is most likely due to miniscule paper loss

This is most likely due to miniscule paper loss in that area of his face and not to the covert activity of counter-revolutionaries.
