The back shows the name of the sculptor Kokhanovskaya and the 1980 date. The plinth has Sholokhov's facsimile signature on the front. Excellent condition.
Sholokhov is one of the most celebrated Soviet authors. His novel "And Quiet Flows the Don" won him Nobel prize for literature in 1965. This work about Don Cossacks is considered one of the top achievements of Socialist Realism style in literature.
