Nicholas II Medal for Zeal, 1915-16.
In silver, measures 33.7 mm in height incl. eyelet, 28.2 mm
wide; weighs 15.2 g. This variation of the Nicholas II Medal
for Zeal was issued only from 1915-1916, until the
transition to the white metal version.
In excellent condition. There are only a few tiny, barely
noticeable dings to the obverse while details of the bas-
relief portrait remain exceptionally well preserved and
crisp, practically perfect. There are some tiny dings to the
raised edge, no bumps, or nicks. The reverse is essentially
pristine. Very attractive even patina to silver on both
The medal comes on original period ribbon of the Order of
St. Stanislaus in silk moiré measuring over 14 cm (approx.
6") in length, 2.5 cm in width. The ribbon folded into a
traditional five-sided shape is beautifully preserved and
clean. The connecting link in silver is of correct style and
may be original as well.
