Suvorov Military Academy Marching Drummer, Polonskiy
(Polonnoe) Artistic Ceramics Factory, 1960s.
Base measures ¾" x 2" (2 x 5cm), figure is 2 ¼" (5.8cm)
high. No trademark beside the red quality control stamp to
the bottom - as is always the case with this particular
figurine. It is known to have been made by the Polonnoe
Factory in Soviet Ukraine during the 60s.
In excellent condition. Shows none of the usual chips or
cracks, and the gilding on the drum, cymbal, edges of
shoulder boards, etc. which was applied on top of the glaze,
has no noticeable scuffs or wear.
Although traditionally thought of as always wearing blue
uniforms, we've seen 1960s photos of a Suvorov cadet band in
white gimnasterka shirts and black pants. This figurine is a
part of the series of three similarly sized figures of
Suvorov marching band cadets playing different instruments.
